Questions asked in DIGITAL SIGNAL Minor 1 2026

  1. Q1(a). Define Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). Further, find the four-point DFT of the sequence x(n) = {1, 3, 4, -3}, and compute the corresponding amplitude and phase spectrum. [5 marks]
  2. Q1(b). Use the four-point DFT and IDFT to determine the sequence: x_3(n) = x_1(n) ∘ x_2(n), where, x_1(n) = {1, 2, 3, 2}, and x_2(n) = {4, 3, 2, 3}. [3 marks]
  3. Q1(c). What are the advantages of FFT over DFT. For the sequence x(n) = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2}, find X(k) using DFT FFT algorithm. [3 marks]
  4. Q2(a). Obtain the mapping formula for the impulse invariant transformation. Further, using this determine the equivalent digital system H(z) from the analog transfer function H(s) = 1/((s+3)(s+4)). [4 marks]
  5. Q2(b). Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of bilinear transformation method. Further using bilinear transformation convert the analog filter with system function H(s) = 1/((s+1)(s+3)), into a digital IIR filter with T = 0.1 sec. [3 marks]
  6. Q2(c). Describe Butterworth filters? Obtain the system functions of normalised Butterworth filters for order N = 1 and 2. [3 marks]
  7. QQ1.. Attempt any Two parts of the following. Q. 1 (a) is compulsory.
  8. QQ2.. Attempt any Two parts of the following. Q. 2 (a) is compulsory.
